Preoperative assessment
On site for cataract surgery or other
During the first consultation, a test establishes the preoperative assessment, which allows to clearly diagnosing the problem, to choose the type of operation to perform, as well as the technique that will be used. The interrogation will deal with general and ophthalmologic history; it will explain contraindications and establish the motivation and visual needs of the patient.
This step will help create a discussion with the patient about different alternatives for solving the identified problem, and a conclusion on the steps that the patient wishes to undertake.

Screening test: Cataract, glaucoma and retinopathy
During a consultation in ophthalmology, we perform all the necessary tests to screen for the presence of specific diseases (such as cataracts, glaucoma or retinopathy) which could cause a reduction in the patient’s quality of vision, in the short, medium or long term.
The clinic is equipped with several cutting edge technology devices which allow diagnosing, treating, documenting and monitoring of several eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration as well as others.

All surgical procedures covered by the RAMQ are performed in hospital centers in Montreal’s metropolitan region, to which our ophthalmologists are affiliated.
Certain laser treatments and preoperative assessments may be performed on site, in order to minimize possible delays. Professional fees are covered by RAMQ for valid card holders. Nevertheless, certain practice fees may apply. A complete list of prices is available on site.

Your optometrist may have also noticed abnormalities during your routine exam and requested a consultation from us. He may contact us directly and schedule an appointment by telephone, fax or on line.
